Based in New York, JBO Communications (JBOC) specializes in dynamic, results-oriented public relations campaigns for design-driven clients in the architecture, design, and lifestyle categories. We pride ourselves on a creative, flexible approach and a level of personal service too often unavailable at larger firms. While most of our clients come to us seeking media relations, our campaigns also integrate services including social media management, copywriting, collateral development, event planning, and international trade show support.

JBOC has worked with individuals, start-ups, and multinational companies. We seek out clients with newsworthy stories, energetic management, and ambitious goals who are interested in working closely with their PR teams.

Jessica Olshen, founder

Jessica founded JBO Communications in 2005. From the first, she designed it to be an accessible alternative for a creative clientele for whom a large, impersonal firm just wasn't the right fit. Jessica set out to provide the best service at a reasonable cost, without those "industry standard" trappings that can stand in the way of the most effective, efficient, and inventive campaigns.

Before founding JBOC Jessica was a Vice President at Clifford Public Relations, a boutique firm in New York and Los Angeles. At Clifford she was responsible for architecture, design, epicure, art, hospitality, and lifestyle accounts, and managing the teams that serviced them. Her clients included The Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery, The Italian Government Tourist Board, HarperCollins Publishers, and Ciao Bella Gelato among many others.

Prior to entering the field of public relations, Jessica worked on the editorial side of book publishing. There she gained the appreciation for good writing, editing, and communications that has become the cornerstone of her approach to public relations.


JBOC makes it a priority to pull together the right team for every client's project. Should we need to look out-of-house for the right mix of expertise, we can tap into our close network of experienced consultants and specialists around the country. We have introduced clients to graphic and interior designers, photographers and programmers, letterpress printers, jazz trios, and macrobiotic pastry chefs—whoever it takes to make the project a success. Whether a campaign is handled entirely in-house or with the assistance of hand-picked consultants, we oversee the process every step of the way.
